M/Y ARCHIPELAGO - DARWIN 102
The hull of “Archipelago” is the fifth of the Darwin Class 102’ displacement hull design. The development of this concept started with the hull of the Darwin Class and proved to be absolutely efficient and seaworthy, being able to perform several ocean passages.
The hull optimization was carried out using also the CFD analysis and the majority of the efforts were concentrated in the design of the forward part of the hull to find the suitable shape that avoided side effects like the increase of drag or wave making despite the absence of a bulbous bow.The flared bow was designed combining aesthetical and functional aspects to meet Owner’s wishes for a classic feel and for helping to keep the deck dry in rough seas.
